You’ve set your goals and you’re full of enthusiasm. Congratulations! You’ve defined what you want out of life and now it’s time to go get it.

Goals and dreams can sometimes seem too big to achieve but with a little know how, you can make them achievable. In this article I’m sharing 8 tips to help you achieve those amazing goals you’ve set yourself.

Action Steps

Action steps are baby steps you can take towards your goal. Rather than being overwhelmed by your goal, you can focus on what needs to be done next. If your goal is huge, you may need to break the action steps down into smaller action steps again.

Think to yourself, what needs to be done to achieve my goal? What needs to be done in 3 months? What about in 1 month? In 2 weeks? 1 week? 1 day?

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Action Steps:

  • Research Spanish language books
  • Research and book 2 holidays to Madrid
    • Research areas
    • Research places to stay
    • Research things to do
    • Etc.
  • Find out what Spanish courses/classes are offered in my area
  • Sign up to a Spanish course and start learning
  • Create a budget
  • Create a savings plan
  • Etc.

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Action Steps:

  • Brainstorm topics
  • Brainstorm names
  • Outline ecourse
  • Write ecourse
  • Create videos
  • Edit videos
  • Write sales page
  • etc.

Do 1 Thing Every Day To Achieve Your Goals

If there is one thing I’ve found that helps me achieve my goals, it’s doing 1 thing each day that gets me closer to them. Even if it’s small and it feels insignificant, it all adds up and gets you to your goal. Not only will this build momentum but it’s easier to achieve 1 small task each day than try to tackle a huge project.

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Your 1 Thing:

  • Learn the Spanish language
  • Read a book on the culture
  • Research the area

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Your 1 Thing:

  • Outlining 1 lesson
  • Brainstorming your opt-in
  • Brainstorming names
  • Creating a sales funnel

Learn New Skills To Achieve Your Goals And Dreams

Is there a new skill or technique you need to learn to achieve your goal? Then factoring in time to learn will help you achieve your goal. Even if you can only schedule in 30 minutes a day or half a day every week, it will get you closer to your dreams.

You can learn from online or in-person events and courses as well as books, articles, podcasts and audiobooks.

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Learn:

  • Spanish via in-person course and books.
  • Saving money via personal finance books.
  • Area via family, friends and holidays.
  • Culture via books and holidays.

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Learn:

  • Video content via ecourse.
  • Time management via articles and books.
  • Sales page via online course.

Schedule Time To Work On Your Goals

Schedule time each day or week to work towards your goal. This can be anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours, or more. Doing this will ensure your dreams get worked on. If you don’t factor time to work towards your goal, how are you going to achieve it?

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Schedule Time:

  • Schedule 1 hour each week to research the area.
  • 1 hour each day to learn the language.

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Learn:

  • Schedule 30 minutes each day to write ecourse.
  • 2 hours each week to learn the new skills.

Plan How You’ll Tackle Any Obstacles

When working towards your dreams, obstacles are bound to arise. By planning in advance how you’ll tackle any obstacles, you can minimise the chance of them throwing you off course. These obstacles can be emotions, bad habits, limiting beliefs or physical limits and obstacles.

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Obstacle:

  •  Fear of living in a new country.

Plan:

  • I can overcome my fear by going on holiday to different parts of Madrid to become familiar with the area.
  • Ask my friends & family if they know anyone who lives in the area that I can get into contact with.

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Obstacle:

  •  Limiting belief over my ability to create and deliver a fantastic ecourse.

Plan:

  • I can challenge my limiting belief by finding a mentor, working through the belief and reminding myself of my past achievements.

Make It Into A Habit

Make your goal into a habit you can do every day. If you can’t see how your dream can be made into a habit, see if you can make a certain aspect into a habit. After all, a little bit every day adds up.

Example Number 1 – Live In Madrid

Habit:

  • Practice Spanish for 5 minutes every day.

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Habit:

  • Write content for 30 minutes each day.

Review Your Goals

Review your goals regularly to check that they’re still what you want to achieve. If you decide that a goal is no longer relevant or it doesn’t align with your new priorities, ditch it. And if you still want to keep a similar goal but you’ve changed, tweak the goal to suit you.

Review:

  • After researching the area, do I still like the sound of it?
  • After visiting a couple of times, do I still wish to live there?

Example Number 2 – Create And Sell An Ecourse

Review:

  • After putting the idea of an ecourse out to my email list, are they interested?
